Nanyang Technological University Carbon Neutralization- -Green cycle New Energy Sustainable Project
In September 2020, President Xi Jinping called for a "Green Revolution" and efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Carbon neutrality is a world problem, because rising sea levels and major climate change will have serious social and economic consequences globally. In the face of such challenges, measures have been taken to reduce anthropogenic emissions of carbon into the atmosphere, which, while having a slight impact on the radiation balance and the greenhouse gas effect, are sufficient to raise temperatures. Ideally, people want to be carbon neutral, which means absorbing or capturing the carbon released by fossil fuel energy production. This course aims to explore these issues in depth.
Learning Target
The main purpose of this course is to provide students with comprehensive carbon neutral knowledge from technical, scientific and economic perspectives. Upon completing the course, the students will be able to:
Quantifying the carbon storage associated with global warming issues.
Quantifying the impact of fossil energy production on carbon flux.
Master the basic knowledge, advantages and disadvantages of major renewable energy sources, and evaluate their development prospects based on technological challenges and future supply.
Master the basic knowledge, advantages and disadvantages of nuclear energy, nuclear fission and nuclear fusion, and evaluate its development prospects based on technological challenges, future supply, security issues, and political and public opinion challenges.
Master both current and future energy storage solutions.
In the context of carbon neutrality, assess the feasibility of different energy sources and the region-wide optimal energy mix.
Project Outcomes
For students who successfully complete the project, the online course project will receive a certificate of completion, a letter of recommendation, and a score evaluation report from the host department of Nanyang Technological University, and the excellent team will also receive an additional certificate of excellent students.
Admission letter
Students who complete the registration and pass the pre-admission will receive the project admission letter from the host department of Nanyang Technological University.
Certificate of Completion
Students who have successfully completed the project will receive a certificate of completion issued by the host department of Nanyang Technological University as proof of the course.
Recommendation
After the project, the teacher will issue a letter of recommendation to each student according to their classroom performance and performance report.
PerformanceEvaluation Report
After the completion of the project, the teacher will issue a performance report according to the students' attendance rate, the completion of the course homework and the completion report. The result report will reflect the result grade, course time, class length, etc.
Certificate of Excellent Student
After the project, the teacher will select the best team according to the completion report of each team, and award the best student certificate to the best team members.
